History, heraldry, calligraphy, costume creation, and maypole games will make their “mini COURT’’ come alive. The week culminates with a grand parade and entertaining “feast” to which parents and friends will be invited. This living history experience is sure to be enjoyed and remembered for years to come. August 6-7: Teacher’s workshop: Making the most of your museum visit Time: 9 am-4:30 pm Price: $75 During this two-day workshop, learn to prepare your class for the optimum museum experience at one of America’s finest examples of Tudor-Revival country estate. Gain insight into Stan Hywet’s educational offerings and identify academic standards met through museum visits. Learn to incorporate the museum experience back into the classroom. August 7: Farmers Market Time: 4-7 pm Price: Free admission Vendors from the area will sell locally grown produce, meat, poultry, cheese and baked goods. There will be no admission to the grounds for those that are customers of the market. August 8-10: Shakespeare— I Hate Hamlet Time: The performance begins at 8 pm Price: See page 24 August 9: Blues & Brews Time: noon-2 pm, Brewers’ Circle/2–6 pm, Brews & Blues Price: $60 for Brewers’ Circle + Brews & Blues ($55, members) Includes lunch. Advanced reservations required. Brewers’ Circle includes lunch features, select and exclusive beers, some brewed just for this VIP tasting. Then it’s an afternoon of Blues & Brews, our fourth annual ale tasting featuring microbreweries from around the world, plus cooking demos, entertainment and food for purchase from The Winking Lizard. New this year is a make-your-own beer demo. This very popular event takes place on the Bowling Lawn near the Manor House. Programs like the “Design your own garden” contest, “Fairy garden Party” and “using the Five Senses in the garden” will not only educate children, but will also provide a fun and friendly environment. The club has contests, parties and educational events throughout the year, some in conjunction with various Stan Hywet functions.
