Over the course of a career the role of Clinical Scientist will include opportunities for laboratory work, basic and applied research, management and teaching. In addition there is the added advantage of contributing directly to patient treatment and care. This unique satisfaction makes the work especially relevant and rewarding. The basic vocational training of Clinical Scientists prepares you for a wide variety of roles ranging from Audiology and Biochemistry to Microbiology and Clinical Cytogenetics. Whilst not every Clinical Scientist will want to work in every field, each will receive appropriate vocational training to be able to fulfil the roles most characteristic of a scientist in innovation, experimentation and evaluation of the applications of scientific developments to health care and patient wellbeing.
