This includes ensuring that both the MOD and Defence Estates meet the commitments set out in the Government’s Sustainable Development Framework. To help meet these exciting targets, we are seeking two policy advisers with experience of policy and legislative change in the field of Sustainable Development. One post will focus on Climate Change Adaptation and Social Impacts, the other on Environmental and Sustainability Appraisals. For both posts, you must be able to demonstrate a track record of being an enthusiastic and effective team player, with experience of supporting, developing and influencing policy and management to ensure successful outcomes, such as persuading others of the merits of new methods of working to support sustainable development. The posts are located in Bath (or alternatively Sutton Coldfield), and will require travel between offices. ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY APPRAISALS £24,725 Foxhill, Bath The purpose of the post is to develop and implement Defence Estates policy and strategy on Environmental and Sustainability Appraisals, co-ordinating and promoting appraisal policy for the MOD estate within Defence Estates and outside, including monitoring policy and legislation developments. You will advise Defence Estates and the MOD on matters relating to Environmental and Sustainability Appraisals and will function as the specialist on appraisal policy matters, and in particular Strategic Environmental Assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment and Sustainability Appraisals, and will represent Defence Estates with key internal customers and external stakeholders. This will require co-ordinating and promoting these policies within the MOD and externally, including monitoring the development of new policy and legislation that may affect the MOD estate in the UK and abroad. You will advise Defence Estates and the MOD on matters relating to the impacts of climate change and will function as the specialist on climate change adaptation matters, representing Defence Estates with key internal customers.
