8 PROSPECTS GRADUATE Issue 67 · 14 May 2008 · Fortnightly www.prospects.ac.uk Graduate Opportunity Product Design / Mechanical Engineering Salary £19,000 - £20,000 + beneﬁts Manhattan Furniture, in collaboration with the University of Brighton, is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated graduate to play a major role in a strategic two year project to improve the viability of kitchen furniture design and ﬁtting processes for emerging property markets, including developing a new approach to the design, construction and materials for kitchen furniture. Manhattan, operating from its 120,000ft2 factory in Lancing, West Sussex, has supplied kitchens to the UK’s leading developers for over 40 years and its high quality products are used mainly in the construction industry, with a smaller percentage of the market in bathroom furniture. This opportunity, as part of the government’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme, will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to drive the change in approach towards design and utilisation of materials for kitchen furniture. Key attributes: A good honours degree (minimum 2:1) in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related subject, as well as an ambition for spearheading a new product and process development strategy. A relevant industrial placement or industrial experience would be an advantage.
