The post provides essential support to the Head of Service and the division, leading and assisting in the delivery of a varied range of projects and focusing particularly on performance improvement. The work of the division includes Libraries, Heritage, Equalities and Diversity, Community Development, Community Cohesion and the Barking Learning Centre, and you will work with any and all of these services on specific projects from time to time, such as supporting the implementation of the libraries strategy. You will have good project management and written communication skills, and be able to liaise with colleagues at different levels across a wide range of services. This is a fixed term post, to the end of March 2009. An enthusiastic, innovative and self-motivated engineer is required for an exciting Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Birmingham City University and STS Signals Ltd. The KTP Associate will develop and implement a design process for a new range of electromechanical railway relay products. The associate will build up numerical simulation of the products’ operation to the point where new designs can be designed for manufacture without the need for prototypes, and with open sharing of design information across the company. The Associate will become a key member of this company wide initiative to develop the product range and become involved in all aspects of marketing the products and leading the company forward. You will be employed by the University but based at STS Signals Ltd near Birmingham (M5 Junction 2 and Rowley Regis train station). You will need good communication skills and a good honours degree in Physical Science, Electrical Engineering or Applied Mathematics, and ideally some experience of working in industry.
