Graduate Prospects - 29 October, 2008 - (Page 3) ‘All these little changes helped the company to significantly increase sales,’ says Filip. A further achievement completed just two weeks ago was a central warehouse to bring together ordering for all of Rick Stein’s businesses. ‘The saving is enormous,’ Filip adds. With just a few months of the placement left Filip is now focusing on a Masters and other personal development aspects. At the Bradford and Airedale Teaching Primary Care Trust Helen has also been producing results. Helen, who had gone to Kraft Foods after graduating, was recruited by Manchester Business School for the KTP project in Bradford. She sums up the aim as ‘a more joined up approach’ to transport and logistics for GP and community medical services in the area. Helen’s most direct impact on patients has come through her involvement with the new larger GP practices that are replacing small traditional surgeries. She explains that previously the Trust had sited the new facilties without fully considering the implications of how patients would get there. The approach has now changed, with Helen sitting on project teams for all developments. ‘A recent example is we’re opening an extended hours practice and we’ve persuaded the bus company to reroute a service so it goes right past the front door.’ Bloggers at work ‘I applied not expecting much.’ LIZ TAKES A DETOUR ‘There is a minefield of etiquette.’ SIMON, OFFICE POLITICIAN With her KTP project nearly over Helen has an MBA to complete at Manchester Business School. But she will be continuing to work in the Bradford Trust. Eighty per cent of KTP Associates are kept on like Helen – further evidence that the programme delivers both for businesses and graduates. READ MORE ABOUT KTP. ‘My distance learning’s desperately behind.’ AYEESHA’S MANY DISTRACTIONS Kirstie is now blogging on the postgrad page.
