We are well-known for our research in English Language (including, for example, major descriptions of English grammar), as well as for highly influential studies in corpus linguistics, critical discourse analysis, English language teaching, literacy studies, literary stylistics, and sociolinguistics. Members of the Department include leading figures such as Geoffrey Leech, Paul Kerswill, Mick Short and Ruth Wodak.
