What's On - Spring 2009 - (Page 2) What’s On - Spring 2009 What’s On. What’s this? 1. This guide lists the events organised for you by the Careers & Employability Service. They’re all free. 2. The glossary on the next two pages tells you about the different types of sessions we offer. We’ve listed them with icons to help you find the events which appeal to you. 3. Sessions are listed in date order – it’s as straight forward as that! 4. Unless we tell you otherwise, all events take place in the Careers & Employability Service. We’re on the first floor of the Student Services Centre (next to the Guild and the Royal Bank of Scotland). If you don’t know where to find us, have a look at our website www.liv.ac.uk/careers. 5. Most of the time, it is not essential to book in advance although this will guarantee you a place and help the presenters to prepare. To book, visit www.liv.ac.uk/careers and follow the link from our homepage. 6. Use this guide as a handbook and highlight the sessions you are interested in attending by ticking the boxes beside each listing. Use the pages at the back of the guide to make a note of the sessions you have booked a place on. 7. Keep this guide with you – you never know when you’ll have a spare hour to kill on campus. And we’d love to entertain you! Icon Event Type What are they about? Limelight Events ‘Limelight’ events are sector specific careers fairs. Often organised in conjunction with an academic department. Presentations An employer’s chance to sell their opportunities to you. Hear about their jobs, their culture and how to apply successfully. They typically include a short talk followed by a questions and answers session and/or some time to network.
