You also can encrypt your SD card to keep data safe and
prevent the card from being used in another device (unless wiped
first). Head to Settings, select Security, followed by Encrypt
external SD card and click Enable. Unlike device encryption,
which required you wipe the phone to remove it, SD card
encryption can easily be reversed in the Settings menu.
Finding your phone
If your law firm has an IT helpdesk, call and they may be
able to assist you or direct you further. If not, below are some tips
and links you can use or contact me for individualized assistance.
Apple devices
You can use Find My iPhone (enabled by default on recent
iPhones and iPads) to find your device and take additional actions
that can help you recover it and keep your data safe.
1. Sign in to icloud.com/find from any browser on any device, or
use the Find My iPhone app on another iPhone, iPad, or iPod
touch.
2. Find your device. Open Find My iPhone, and select a device
to view its location on a map. You can have it play a sound to
help you or someone nearby find it. The sound will work even if
the device is on silent or had the volume down.
3. Turn on Lost Mode. Using Lost Mode, you can remotely
lock your device with a passcode, display a custom message with
your phone number on your missing device's Lock screen, and
keep track of your device's location. If you added credit or debit
cards to Apple Pay, the ability to make payments using Apple
Pay on the device is suspended when you put your device in Lost
Mode.
