As medical practice managers we recognize that office staff, too,
are frequently 'under the gun.' Staff members are often caught in
the middle of a tug-of-war between the patients - whom we wish to

So for those physicians who read this, please remember that
running a successful medical practice depends on much more
than the presence of excellent physicians. Although the physician
is the face of the practice, the one in the spotlight, there are a lot
of moving parts behind the 'white coat curtain' which must be
synchronous for the practice as a whole to be successful. Never
forget that the people working hard in the background may be
subject to some of the same stresses that affect physicians. Burnout
is not a physician-only phenomenon, and it will take all members
of the medical practice team working together to conquer this
problem.
