DIGESTIVE & WELLNESS
EXPO 2017

O

n October 7th, My Gut
Instinct, Inc., my nonprofit
organization in Berks
County, hosted its 4th annual Guts
and Glory Digestive & Wellness
Expo at the First Energy Stadium
in Reading.
I created this public educational
health fair for our community to
inspire and embolden individuals
to embrace their own power over
their health and to find inspiration
in the wonderful offerings in our
community to energize their efforts
to carve out their own journey to
better wellness. Each year, Guts and
Glory Expo aims to emphasize the importance of healthy nutrition,
educate community members about alarm symptoms warranting
medical attention, encourage a proactive and preventative approach
to wellness, celebrate health, and empower each of us to take action
to live healthier lives. In short, we want people to take charge to
become beautiful from the inside out, because we believe that
beauty starts on the inside. Take better care of your insides with
better nutrition and better performance, and outside health and
beauty then follows!

Our 4th annual event didn't
disappoint and was another shining
success. The day brought hundreds
of visitors of all ages on a beautiful
and warm sunny day. There were
food tastings, nutritional experts
offering dietary counsel, live yoga,
a farmer's market punctuated
by the earthy sounds of a drum
circle, karate demonstrations and
live spin classes, high intensity
interval circuit training courses,
massage therapy, a kids' obstacle
course, informational booths,
meditation and wellness tent, live
music with salsa dance lessons,
and even a mobile zipline! Free
health screenings and biometric testing were offered by our running
title sponsor, Penn State Health St Joseph. We were also proud
to welcome Senator Judy Schwank, a loyal supporter since our
inception, and our First Responders there too, including state
troopers, local police, the bomb squad, and EMS staff to forge
strong relations with the community.
