For those who missed last year's performances, the Center
put on The Irish... and How They Got That Way, My Fair
Lady and Give My Regards to Broadway.

The venue is easy to get to, brand new, with a large foyer,
and a beautiful theater and parking is free and abundant.
The performance quality hits New York standards.

Bucks County Herald's Jean Brenner in a review toasted The
Irish ... and How They Got That Way as an "exceptionally
entertaining... The close harmony by the three men was
especially wonderful music to my ears."

Bucks County Center for the Performing Arts was founded
by Artistic Director Howard Perloff, a longtime Bucks
County resident. Mr. Perloff is a Julliard School of Music
graduate, and also owner and producer of the South
Hampton Cabaret Theater in South Hampton, Long Island.
That theater presented Chita Rivera in Irma La Douce and
Dick Shawn in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to
the Forum. Howard also co-produced Legs Diamond on
Broadway starring Peter Allen and was Associate Producer
on Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song Trilogy on Broadway.

All performers are members of Actors Equity, the professional acting guild. Meredith Beck, a Doylestown native
with a degree in theater and vast experience, appeared
in all three productions. Other performers include Janice
and Martin Landry, Caitlin Sheridan McKechney and
Brandon Lambert.

Howard created and produced Bernie's Bar Mitzvah off
Broadway and Star Spangled Rhythm at the Society Hill
Playhouse in Philadelphia and has produced Tony and Tina's
Wedding in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Atlantic

In addition, Howard produced Parenting 101, The Big Bang,

Sheriff Warrell's most immediate
concern is to address the manpower
shortage in the office. Currently,
there are 43 uniformed sheriffs, in an
office that according to population

The 42-year-old Levittown resident, recently retired
from the Upper Southampton Police Department,
had been working in his family's plumbing business in
Lower Bucks County, when he decided to take a shot at
running for Sheriff, after being approached by county
democratic leaders.

The Prevalence of Sexual Harassment
Should Not Surprise Anyone

When I asked him to describe his duties, Sheriff Warrell
responded the Bucks County Sheriff's primary responsibility is to transfer and return all prisoner-defendants from
jails and prisons throughout the state, which most often
involves Montgomery County and Philadelphia locations,
usually on a daily basis, as well as prisoner transfers from
Mercer County, New Jersey.

Sheriff Warrell had heard that there was dissatisfaction
within the Sheriff's Office, and he strongly believed that he
was in a position to bring fresh ideas and new initiatives

All funds raised by Friends for Heroes are donated to
various organizations that the Board determines is in
most of need of support. Fellow members of the Bucks
County Bar Association have been more than generous
in devoting their time in participating in the event and in
making financial contributions. In 2016, the money was
provided to Homes for Our Troops, Duskin & Stephens
Foundation (an organization supported by fellow Bar
Association President Jessica Pritchard), USO.org and
the PA Wounded Warriors. Ultimately, the goal of the
Board is to provide financial support for local families
in Bucks County.

PA Family Law Winter Meeting
20

in The

Big Easy

- By Nancy Larkin Taylor -

Beads, masks, voodoo dolls, Hurricanes, plastic crowns, oysters and po' boys
were some of the sights and smells. Sounds included live jazz, drummers on
street corners; street performers demanding cash, psychics teasing with visions
of the future and the clopping of horses and carriages.
The PA Family Law meeting was held in the Big Easy
this year, at the stunning Roosevelt Hotel. Some 280
attorneys turned out.

A bayou tour even showcased a wild boar. It was too cold
for alligators.
As a previous Katrina volunteer with the Bar Association, I
unconsciously sought out the 12-foot water line on houses
in the 9th ward. Many remain abandoned, and some still
have FEMA trailers in the backyard.

PBA Planners wisely scheduled only morning classes, so by
noon we were off.
There was so much to appreciate in New Orleans: Tours of
the city, the cemeteries, sugar and cotton plantations, slave
quarters, the World War II and Civil War Museums and the
exquisite pleasure of strolling down Bourbon Street looking
for a place to lunch.

The three features this year are The Fantasticks, Defending
the Caveman and Chorus Line, running from June through
August. Tickets went on sale on November 25, and sales
have already been brisk. In the first three days the group
sold over 600, an excellent start for the new season. Check
it out at buckscountycenter for the performing arts.org.or

Back to work. This year the presentations were worthwhile,
especially since we racked up 7.5 CLEs.
On Friday, Roger Dodd, a
"Jerry Spence"-like super
lawyer, shared common
sense deposition tricks.

Muriel's, Arnaut's, Felix's, Acme, Two Sisters, Three Muses,
Brennan's, Café du Monde; so many restaurants and bars.
Browsing the bordello antique shops on Royal takes time
too. If you rush, you miss the unfolding show.
To state the obvious, New Orleans history is fascinating, no
matter how many times you visit. French, Spanish, African,
Creole, Southern culture, plantation owners, corrupt
politicians, famed football players, Sandra Bullock, and
Ann Rice are all part of the scene.
