Did You Ever Wonder

Did You Ever Wonder?

LINE OF SUCCESSION
By Charles T. DeTulleo, Esquire

I

t is my hope that the reader is not confused with this
article. For those of you who are interested in the
Presidential line of succession, a new T.V. series started
back in September 2016. I started writing about the show
at the very beginning and began my predictions as to what
may take place with this type of fictional concoction of
constitutional law and the imagination that T.V. series writers
can devise. But, I did not submit the article in time for the
last publication of New Matter and I thought I had failed to
be "timely." Then I gave it a second thought and decided that
for those who are watching the series, it might be good for
me to give you my thoughts as to what may happen in the
ongoing series. I also decided that the on-going discussion of
President-Elect Donald John Trump's appointments as cabinet
heads should keep the interest of this series peaked.
The series has its twists and turns. The appointment of the
new Vice President was not much of a surprise but more of a
"who-done-it" theme. The pursuit of a "rogue" FBI agent has

made an excellent sub-plot but with only a few surprises. No
surprise that the agent was broad-sided in an accident as she
was heading to the Capitol building to spill the beans on the
biggest conspirator, i.e. the Vice Presidential appointments
hearings before Congress. I anticipate that if conspiracy
satisfies your appetite, you will be in for a major treat. Why,
because whomever the conspirators are, they must have
planned for an alternative replacement for the Vice Presidential
appointment if something spoiled their plot. The show even
disclosed that the VP's wife was in on the conspiracy. Once
you have that many people involved who are still alive, you risk
being exposed by someone or some missed factoid. Compare
this with the building of a bomb proof room in the Capitol
building so the congressman can survive and be the candidate
for Vice President. I look forward to the next season of the
series. And oh, this part was written after the December 2016,
final episode.

The new T.V. series "Designated Survivor" just hit the air
and seems to be a hit. The story line deals with what would
happen if there was a catastrophic attack on the United States
Government and how the government would survive.
As the story begins there is a lone member of the President's
Cabinet who is cloistered away from all the fanfare of the
Presidential address to Congress. What many people may
