Father Jim DeGrassa studied at Saint Charles Borromeo
Seminary in Wynnewood for ten years before he was ordained
a Roman Catholic priest in 2010. He served as Parochial Vicar
at Our Lady of Grace in Penndel, Bucks County, St. Denis in
Havertown, Saints Simon and Jude in West Chester and St.
Cornelius in Chadds Ford before being installed as pastor this
past summer at Resurrection of Our Lord Parish in Northeast
Philadelphia.
Father Jim DeGrassa is the son of Press Club's Past
President, Peg DeGrassa of Delco News Network... Her
words: I was blessed (on that Saturday in September, 2017)
to etch one of those unforgettable life moments in my heart
forever. It was a very emotional day that I will absolutely
treasure and hold close in my heart for the rest of my life.
As I overheard someone tease him afterward, "Not bad
for a boy from Delco," I had to smile. I was sitting in that
breathtakingly beautiful church, thinking how surreal it was
that my son, the little boy who grew and grew and grew,
in mind, body and spirit for the past 35 years, is now the
shepherd, the spiritual leader, of over five thousand people in
Resurrection of Our Lord Parish.
Inspirational words and a song, or two, by Pastor Rose
Sparrow-Melton... Pastor Rose shed a few inspirational
words upon us and gifted attendees with a song, or two, as she
is as beautiful on the inside as her voice projects outwardly.
Pastor Rose studied Theology at Palmer Theological Seminary
and at Eastern; she Studied World Religions at Thomas
Edison State University and studied Bible/Ministry at Eastern
University. Pastor Rose sparkles, she inspires us to rise up,
start fresh, and see the bright opportunity in each new day.
