Education, Innovation & Advancing Justice!
PENNSYLVANIA SUPREME COURT ADOPTS CONTINUING
JUDICIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
In December, 2016, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued
an order (which took effect on January 1, 2017) mandating that
all judges of the Supreme Court, Commonwealth Court, Superior Court, and Court of Common Pleas must complete twelve
hours of continuing education credit each year. Judges will be
required to take nine hours of judicial practice and three hours of
judicial ethics. The order also created a special Board to oversee
accreditation or courses and providers.
Effective March 3, 2017...The Delaware County Bar Association received its accreditation to begin offering CJE (Continuing
Judicial Education) seminars, and the leadership of the Association looks forward to working with the local Bench to plan and
present quality judicial education programs.

On Courthouse Row...
Proud to honor the Honorable Murray S. Eckell (center),
Esquire, Honorable Barry C. Dozor (left) and President Judge,
Chad F. Kenney (right), stand in front of a new portrait recently
hung on the Courthouse row of retired former judges.
One of Murray's principal accomplishments was his appointment by then-Governor Milton Shapp to the Court of Common
Pleas of Delaware County in March of 1977. When his term expired, he chose to forego running for election and returned to his
partners in the active practice of law.
In 1979, Murray served as 44th President of the Delaware
County Bar Association. He, along with Donald W. Sparks, Esquire, formed Eckell & Sparks in the spring of 1964 which was
the genesis of the present law firm Eckell Sparks Levy Auerbach
Monte Sloane Matthews & Auslander P.C., the largest law firm
established in Delaware County. As one of the largest suburban
firms serving the entire five-county Philadelphia metropolitan
area, offering clients strengths and depth of experience, the firm
is fortunate to enjoy a prestigious reputation in the legal community.

Eckell, the firm Eckell Sparks Levy Auerbach Monte Sloane
Matthews & Auslander P.C., and their service to Delaware
County and to the profession of law.
