SEA ISLE CITY -- An
estimated 60,000 visitors
spent President's Day Weekend, 2017, in Sea Isle City for
the 23rd annual Polar Bear
Plunge. In contrast to the 2016
frigid affair, even by polar
bear standards, this year's
event was held in beautiful
spring-like weather, with temperatures in the 60s all weekend. The festivities started on Friday,
February 17, 2017, with the crowning of the Royal Family. On
Saturday, more than 2,000 participants lined the beach before
taking the plunge. Proceeds from the plunge benefit community
events hosted by the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and
Revitalization. The festivities concluded on Sunday with runners
and walkers gathering on the Promenade for the ninth annual
Mike's Seafood Polar Bear Run/Walk for Autism. The 5K run/1mile walk featured more than 3,000 participants to benefit Autism Speaks, special-services schools, autism support groups, and
families of special-needs children. Following the Run/Walk for
Autism, the Philadelphia Cornhole League and La Costa hosted
the first annual Polar Bear Cornhole Tournament. With more than
50 teams signed up to play in the double-elimination tournament,
the event was quite a success in raising funds for autism charities. Next year's event is scheduled for February 16th to the 18th,
2018.
In the Spring, 2016 issue of the Delco re:View, you may
recall reading about "The Plunge" when Delaware County Bar
Association member, Frank Urso, Esquire, dressed in full regalia as William Wallace, galloped up and down the ranks with a
toy horse that clacked and neighed as he led thousands of brave
individuals to take that faithful leap into the frigid waters of the
Atlantic Ocean. "We're going to attack the ocean instead of the
English army," said Urso, referencing the Scottish Knight depicted by Mel Gibson in the movie Braveheart. For the 11 years
Frank and his wife Fran have owned a home in Sea Isle City,
Frank has plunged into the water every winter to benefit city
wide events for charity. Over the years, Frank has assumed a
leadership role in taking the plunge where costumes have ranged
from Elvis impersonators and The Little Mermaid, to a mixture

of superheroes. The event provides Frank the opportunity to
gather with family, friends and colleagues and make a difference.

In Modern Popular Fiction...

A superhero is a type of costumed heroic character who possesses supernatural or superhuman powers and who is dedicated
to fighting crime, protecting the public, and usually battling
supervillains. Many superheroes work independently, however,
there are also many superhero teams. Some have common origins and operate as a group. Others operate as an "all-star" group
of heroes with separate origins who operate individually, yet will
team up to confront larger obstacles.
Superheroes tend to display similar traits such as: Extraordinary powers or abilities; a strong moral code; motivation; a secret identity; an underlying motif or theme that reveals the nature
of his or her character; a supporting cast of recurring characters,
friends, co-workers or love interests; a backstory that explains
the circumstances by which the character acquired his or her
abilities and motivation for becoming a superhero; and normal,
human flaws.

Larger Obstacles
Hulk SMASH... A brilliant warrior! His durability,
regeneration, and endurance
increase in proportion to his
temper. Hulk is resistant to
injury or damage. He has been
shown to have both regenerative and adaptive healing abilities, including growing tissues
to allow him to breathe underwater, surviving unprotected in
space for extended periods, and when injured, healing from most
wounds within seconds. The Hulk has an extremely prolonged
lifespan. He also possesses less commonly described powers, including abilities allowing him to "hone in" to his place of origin,
resist psychic control, or unwilling transformation.
The Man, Frank Urso, Esq... Hard Work... "With hard work,
you can do anything." Born in South Philly, Urso grew up in
Yeadon, graduated magna cum laude from the University of
Pennsylvania, went on to Temple University Law School, and
won a seat on Yeadon Borough Council at age 24. Now, a practicing attorney for over 30 years, his Media-based practice, Urso
& Weinrich, specializes in the areas of Family Law, Divorce,
