the Temple Law School Sports and Entertainment Law Society, and the
Temple University Sport and Governance Association; offered 6 Hours
of CLE Credits.

Sports and the Law; Hot Button Issues
in Amateur and Professional Sports
IN PHILLY PHILLY
This was not your typical Continuing Legal Education
program. While deep in substance, "Game On" was an assembly
of expert panelists at the top of their fields who probed
controversial issues that appeal to both the casual and diehard
sports fans alike. Drawing on their personal experiences and
perspectives, these elite experts covered such hot button topics
as Commissioner authority to punish wayward professional
athletes, sports team relocation, public financing of stadiums,
and the "good, the bad and the ugly" of sports agents.
The program featured lunchtime keynote speaker David
Cohen, Esquire, Former General Counsel of the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers, who shared his personal insights on current-and
often controversial-legal issues confronting the sports industry;
and, Neil Hartman, Vice President Sports Programming, The
Workshop; former Anchor, Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.
Panel 1: "Show Me the Money"-Becoming (and
Remaining) a Professional Sports Agent ... A review of the
requirements for becoming a certified agent in each of the four
major U.S. professional sports; and a probing discussion of the
practical realities of being an agent in this highly competitive
environment. Panelists: Mark Levin, Director Salary Cap
and Agent Administration, NFL Players' Association; Michael
Nicotera, Senior Partner and Director of Baseball Operations
at The Sparta Group, LLC.; Rex Gary, Esq., Co-Founder of
Turner-Gary Sports; Jason Belzer, Esq., President of Game Inc.;
and Jerrold Colton, Owner of CS Sports, Certified NHL and
NFL Agent.
Panel 2: If You Build It (Or Move It), They Will Come ...
An exploration into the controversial subjects of professional
sports team relocation and public financing of the construction
of new stadiums, often the lure for moves to new cities.

of the ongoing controversy surrounding on-field protests by
