Judge Capuzzi has always been civic- and serviceminded as evidenced by his status of Life Member and
Past President of Yeadon Fire Co. Number 1. Other public
service positions have included President of Yeadon Borough
Council and later Commissioner in Marple Township. His
legal career, in addition to the public service aspect, began
as a Deputy Attorney General in the Torts Litigation Section
of the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General where he
worked from 1988-2005. Beginning in 2006, he served as the
Magisterial District Justice for Marple and parts of Haverford
Township serving with distinction until his ascension to the
Court of Common Pleas Bench in 2012. He also maintained
a private practice during that time as a partner in the firm
of Imperatrice, Amarant, Capuzzi and Bell P.C. His many
honors include an AV rating (Highest Legal Ability and
Ethical Standards) from Martindale Hubbell and the Guy G
DeFuria award in recognition of his outstanding legal ability,
professionalism and high ethical standards in 2012.
Sharing his knowledge and experience, Judge Capuzzi is
a past president of the Guy G DeFuria Inn of Court where
he led an organization dedicated to legal education,
professionalism and trial work. It is with great honor that I
present the Honorable Francis J. Catania Memorial Award to
someone I consider a friend and a living embodiment of the
standards espoused by Judge Catania to the Honorable John P.
Capuzzi, Sr. *
