Shop with a Sheriff

December 9, 2017- One special Saturday in December 2017, Sheriff
Mary McFall Hopper and the Delaware County Sheriff's Office
hosted its 3rd annual "Shop with a Sheriff" held at the Walmart in
Springfield Township. Forty-three children from Leedom, Glenolden,
Linwood, and Stonehurst Elementary schools were given the
opportunity to shop for family members while being escorted by one
of Sheriff Hopper's Deputies. The event is designed to build positive
community relations between youth and law enforcement along with
giving children the means to shop for family members and a little
something for themselves!
The event is made possible by the generosity of local businesses,
organizations, and individual donors. Kudos: To the law firm of
Joseph A. Malley, III, Media, for sponsoring the luncheon for the
third year in a row; to the Delaware County Sheriff's Reserve Unit
who sponsored 30 children and also provided the manpower at the
luncheon by donating their time serving food and wrapping gifts for
all of the families; to Andrew J. Edelberg, Esquire, a Delaware
County attorney and a Lieutenant in the Sheriff's Reserve Unit, who
was generous in donating his time and sponsoring seven children
through his firm, Aivazoglou & Mikropoulos LLC; to the Aston
Township Fire Dept for donating their time by driving two engines
and bringing Santa to visit the children.

It is with great joy I watch the children each year put so much thought
into the gifts they are now able to give to other family members; they
truly enjoy the gift of giving rather than receiving." *
