YORK: CRAFTED

York has a rich heritage and legacy of craft. York: Crafted
gives York County makers and doers a platform to share their
experience of what it means to craft and be a craftsman here
in York.
York: Crafted organizers host four events per year and curate
a diverse lineup of speakers from a wide range of disciplines
and perspectives. The series defines "craft" as the intersection
of skill and intention.
Presenters utilize the 20x20 PechaKucha presentation format
- 20 slides that automatically advance every 20 seconds -
to talk about their craft, and how it has evolved over time.
This means all presentations are exactly six minutes and 40
seconds long. The PechaKucha format forces presenters to be
succinct, and to be very intentional about what they say. Presenters share how they got involved in their respective crafts,
how their approach has evolved over time, and lessons they
have learned along the way.

Past presentations have included a look into the worlds of
painting, writing personal narratives, baking bread, furniture
design, alternative education models, letterpress printing,
building cigar box guitars, photojournalism, typography,
music scoring for television, street photography, repairing and
restoring vintage guitars, kite building, prop building, weightlifting, and sustainable farming.
