YORVOICE 2018
Shower serenaders, music festival goers, open mic nighters -wonder what it would be like to see a phenomenal music showcase at
the Appell Center? Now's your chance! Come be a part of our audience at the YorVoice event on March 24th from 7:30pm-9:30pm
at the Appell Center for Performing Arts at 50 North George Street
in York. YorVoice is powered by the Cultural Alliance of York County
to inspire York pride, celebrate the arts and their impact on our
community, and raise funds for our 2018 Annual Campaign.
Each year, YorVoice attracts the top singing talent in the area to
compete in a friendly music showcase, with a range of performances from choirs to a capella groups, solo acts to high school
garage bands.
"The talent last year was amazing," said Kelley Gibson, Cultural
Alliance event organizer. "We had live bands and singers from
all ages and backgrounds performing everything from opera to
musical theatre. All the performances just blew us away. We're so
excited to see the crop of talent that comes forward this year."
In addition to performing for you at the Appell Center, a celebrity
panel of judges is on hand to offer constructive feedback to the
performers and select a Champion. This year there will be two winners, a Vocal Performance Champion and Live Band Champion! But
the judges don't have all the say; you will be able to vote for your
favorite performer through the People's Choice award, given to the

contestant with the most online and in-person votes at the event, at
$1 per vote. Last year's competition winner was close, jumping between 2016 People's Choice winner, Paperhearts, and high schooler
Adelaide Archterberg. For the first time ever the same contestant
won the Judge's Choice and the People's Choice award. Adelaide
Archterberg won both of these awards from her performance of "I'm
Not Afraid of Anything" from Songs for a New World.
In between contestants, our celebrity Emcee Chris Garrett of FOX43
and our house funk band Boompop Coalition will make sure to
keep the fun going. "You never know what Chris and Boompop are
going to do next," said organizer Kelley Gibson. So come on York;
