Where can you dance with fairies,
get your face painted, visit with an
alpaca, learn how to plant the perfect
garden, hula hoop in the middle
of the street and dine on locally-sourced fare from Central PA? Go
Green in the City, of course!

in York,

Each year, more than 4,000 families flock to downtown York to enjoy
an interactive street fair with fun learning activities for kids, live animals
and live music spanning the block between North Beaver Street,
North Pershing Avenue, West Clarke Avenue and the White Rose Bar
& Grill parking lot.

Go Green in the City is back for its
tenth year on April 21 from 10am3pm to promote green, healthy
and local living in a family-friendly atmosphere. This unique festival
combining family fun and education with green-conscious living
and artistry is free to the public, thanks to a generous sponsorship by
White Rose Credit Union.

CELEBRATE SPRING AT
GO GREEN IN THE CITY

Go Green features more than 100 local and regional artisans,
green-conscious businesses, non-profits and locally-sourcing food
vendors who take to the streets to showcase and inspire attendees
with their eco-friendly products, services, arts and crafts.
From hand-made soaps to one-of-a-kind sewn and hand-stamped
goods and art, you can shop the day away with local artisans hawking their wares. Go on a buying spree from the street to the shops,
as downtown merchants on North and South Beaver Street, West
Market Street and East Philadelphia Street are also open for business
during Go Green so you can truly support the "Live Local" mission of
the event. The proprietors of Kimman's and Sweet Melissa's Dream on
North Beaver Street are among the founding members of Go Green
in the City.
Explore the other neighborhoods such as the art-gallery-filled Royal
Square District just a few blocks over, or cross the Codorous Creek to
WeCo, the little neighborhood with coffee shops, independent movie
theaters and more!
York's Central Market House serves as the beautiful anchor to the event,
with Central Market open for business from 6am to 2pm. Vendors
inside Central Market offer Go Green specials and promotions. Remember, you can always "go green" at Central Market as you peruse
the aisles of fresh local produce and handmade goodies.
To that end, the festival added the Go Green Kid Zone Sponsored
by WITF, complete with a York County 4-H petting zoo, kid-centered
entertainment, arts and crafts, and more. Get your face painted like an
owl or a woodland fairy. Learn about how you can make a difference
in your community with York Habitat for Humanity. Join the York County
History Center on the lawn of the Colonial Complex to partake in
historic colonial children's games. Climb inside a real trash truck at the
Republic Services Touch-A-Truck station. Take in some kid-friendly live
music and entertainment with local theater groups. Create your own
chalk art right in the middle of the street!

Don't forget to pose with fun oversized stuffed veggies and
pledge to "Eat Your Greens!" at the Family First Health photo
booth. Smile big with Archie the Apple and friends and watch for
your tagged photos on social media after the event.
Live music from the White Rose Bar & Grill Stage sets the scene
for a day that's all about community and celebrating where we
live. Jam out to live music from 10am to 2pm in the White Rose
parking lot. Last year's lineup included local favorites like Indian
Summer Jars, Rivers, Free Breakfast and Nick DiSanto, One
Man Band!
Also in the White Rose parking lot is the Go Green Food Court.
Regional mobile food vendors have everything from falafel to
grilled cheese to burritos to fill your belly.
