* Chartered on March 15, 1922 by the Naional Association of
Real Estate Boards as the Reading Real Estate Board
* First President: Wayne K. Leinbach
* The Board changed its name to the Greater Reading Board
of Realtors and was incorporated in 1972, the Board's
50th year.
* The Board again changed its name to the Reading-Berks
Association of Realtors®, Inc. in 1993. "Association" was
chosen to correspond with the Pennsylvania Association of
Realtors® and the National Association of Realtors®.
* The territorial jurisdiction of the Association includes the
City of Reading and the County of Berks.
* Mission statement: A professional trade association for
licensed real esate practitioners. The Reading Berks
Association of Realtors' mission is: The Reading Berks
Association of Realtors® exists to serve its members. We
uphold the high standards of the Realtor® Code of Ethics.
We advocate for private property rights and homeownership
and strive to improve the quality of life in our communities.
* Membership consists of both residential and commercial
agents, including brokers and industry affiliates,
and has currently over 960 members.

HISTORY:
1910
* The Real Estate Board of Brokers of the City of Reading, PA
was organized on October 25, 1910 following a banquet
at Elk's Home. The goal was to furnish to the citizens of
Reading who employ real estate men (which was the correct
expression at the time) connected with this organization
an absolute guarantee that their business will be attended
to with strict integrity and honor.
1922
* In March 1922, the Reading Real Estate Board was elected
to National Association REALTORS membership; the
Board had 49 active members.
1930
* In 1930, the 10th annual Pennsylvania Association of
REALTOR®S convention was held in Reading. With over
240 Realtors® registered, the convention was considered a
huge success.
