READING, PA - The Downtown Alive free outdoor concert series
is returning for the third time to Reading starting in June. The
series will feature a dynamic lineup of nationally-touring acts from
varying musical genres.
With the assistance of Centro Hispano, the 2017 roster will include
two "Latin fiesta" evenings. The series will open with international
salsa star Frankie Negron, a multiple Grammy and Billboard Award
nominee, and Charlie Cruz, who is one of Puerto Rico's best salsa
performers. The concerts will conclude with a trio of performances
by 24 Horas, an international bachata group; George Lamond, the
salsa and American freestyle music singer who is best known for his
No. 1 salsa hit "Que Te Vas"; and Funk Salsa Urban, a band that
uses basic salsa rhythms with elements of funk and urban to create

a new sound while incorporating
Spanglish lyrics to cater to a broader
audience.
The series is being staged again
on Penn Street by the Reading
Downtown Improvement District
and the SMG-managed Santander
Arena. The major sponsor this year
is Weidenhammer, which also
sponsored the series in 2016. Berks
County Community Foundation
and Berks County Convention
Center Authority are also providing significant funding for the concerts.
Each concert will feature a festival atmosphere and include food
trucks and beer for sale. All shows will be held in the 500 block of
Penn Street and start at 5 p.m.
In addition to the acts already mentioned, others scheduled to
appear this season are:
Eli Young Band, a multi-ACM and Grammy-nominated country music foursome, with multiple No. 1 hits on Billboard charts
including "Crazy Girl," "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" and "Dust."
The Cadillac Three, an American-Southern rock band from
Nashville, TN, that has shared the stage with country stars Eric
Church and Dierks Bentley, and is currently touring with Florida
Georgia Line.
