reetings and welcome to another issue of Lancaster Physician Magazine.
We hope you have enjoyed our prior issues and have found them to
be educational.

In our winter edition, you will find articles on a range of issues
including local hospital best practices, the opioid abuse epidemic, and medical
marijuana. Patient advocacy updates including dental health and urgent care
services are also discussed.
Past LCCMS events including the legislative breakfast, Lancaster County
women in medicine initiative, and the young physician social continue to grow
in support and physician involvement. Local leadership from UPMC Pinnacle
Health, WellSpan and LGH-Penn Medicine will provide us with insight into their
respective missions.
The December 9th LCCMS holiday social was a phenomenal success despite the
inclement weather. The DJ (and incredible up-lighting) energized the attendees
as the dance floor was filled for the second half of the celebration. Scholarships
were presented to three local medical students-continuing our long tradition
of encouraging young Lancaster talent to pursue their dream of becoming a
physician. We also recognized the recipients of the PAMED's Top Pennsylvania
Physicians Under 40.
Amazingly, our membership continues to expand despite (or possibly because
of ) the current everchanging and challenging medical landscape.
