HUMANENESS
IN MEDICINE
AWARD

COUNTY MEDICAL
SOCIETY

A

minatu Akande, M.D., a fourth-year resident on
obstetrics and gynecology with the Lehigh Valley
Health Network, was named the recipient of the
2017 Humaneness in Medicine Award, presented by
the Lehigh County Medical Society.

According to Dr. Flicker, "Throughout her years of training at
Lehigh Valley Health Network, Dr. Akande has always demonstrated compassion and commitment to outstanding care for her
patients, and she has the ability to tailor her approach to best suit
the needs and understanding of her patients."

This award is presented to a Lehigh County medical resident or
fellow who has best displayed the ideals of outstanding compassion
in the delivery of care, respect for patients, their families, and
health care colleagues, as well as demonstrated clinical excellence.

Lehigh County Medical Society (LCMS) presents the award
annually. Located in Allentown, LCMS represents physicians of all
specialties on local issues. In coordination with the Pennsylvania
Medical Society, LCMS also works to address health issues at the
state capitol.

Dr. Akande was nominated for the award by Amanda Flicker,
M.D., chief of obstetrics and OB/GYN residency program director
at Lehigh Valley Health Network.
