(MCMS) awarded a
$1,000 scholarship to local medical
student Daniel M. Friedman,
son of Drs. David and Elizabeth
Friedman of Wynnewood. He
attends the Columbia University
College of Physicians & Surgeons
in New York.
Friedman said, "I entered
medical school with an open
mind, conscious that I have only scratched the surface of
the field of medicine. Patient care and my exploration of
the intersection of medicine, public health, business, and
technology will provide me with opportunities to make
a difference in the most profound ways imaginable. I am
interested in pursuing a joint MD/MBA degree during
my time at Columbia, and I aspire to not only help my
patients on an individual level, but also to improve their
experience with healthcare delivery on a larger scale."
This award is possible, thanks to contributions from the
Montgomery County Medical Society members and area
physicians. The MCMS mission is to represent and serve
all physicians of Montgomery County and their patients
in order to preserve the doctor-patient relationship;
maintain safe, quality care; advance the practice of
medicine; and enhance the role of medicine and health
care within the community and across Montgomery
County and Pennsylvania.
The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society
administers the fund for MCMS. The Foundation, a
nonprofit affiliate of the Pennsylvania Medical Society,
sustains the future of medicine in Pennsylvania by
providing programs that support medical education,
physician health, and excellence in practice. It has been
helping to finance medical education for more than 60
years.
