Continuing Growth
of MCAP

in the shoes as President of one
of MCAP's founders, and its only
President until 2017, Marc R. Steinberg.
Our respect for Marc as our leader and
our gratitude for his fidelity to our cause
cannot be overstated.
For my part, I would like to spread the
word to every lawyer in the Montgomery
Bar Association that the reward is returned
to every one of us who volunteers. What
the children have given me in smiles, hugs,

provided our services. With the changes in the Child Protective
Services Laws, heightened awareness of the unique needs of
abused and neglected children, and an attitude of universal
protectiveness for all children, MCAP experienced the most
referrals ever in 2016, culminating in our advocates representing
533 children, a 40% increase from 2015. Throughout our history,
MCAP has never had to turn away a child, because one of our
125 committed MCAP volunteer pro bono attorneys has always
answered the call to serve. No matter how horrific the case or how
busy their schedules, our MCAP advocates accept an appointment
to protect a child's unique voice. Proudly, we are able to ensure
potted plants, thank-you letters and hand-drawn pictures is priceless. that a volunteer attorney is appointed within 36 hours of the
referral.
