MBA Ski Trip:
Gone With the Wind

A

group of 16 MBA lawyers, family members and guests
followed President Lincoln's counsel on his birthday this
year by diligently working on their skiing techniques.

The snow conditions that cloudy Monday morning at Blue
Mountain Ski Area were not ideal - hard-packed at the upper
elevations, soft at the lower - but there were few skiers and
snowboarders on the slopes, providing open space for our group.
Short lift lines and fast chairlifts allowed for many runs before
and after lunch, when the sun came out and the sky turned a
beautiful blue.
MBA member Joe Lynch has been participating in the MBA's
annual Lincoln's Birthday Ski Trip since 1968, back when the
courts used to close for the holiday and judges would join lawyers
for a day of downhill. For decades, Joe has organized the ski trip
for the MBA, with help from recently retired MBA Administrative
Assistant Nancy Hagner. Joe's gracious and welcoming wife,
Trish, arranges for a terrific luncheon, including a wide assortment
of cheeses, crackers, bread, fruit, "grape juice" and "lemonade."
Trish's floral arrangements on tables in the Blue Mountain Summit
Lodge, by windows overlooking the valley, virtually transported us
to the Swiss Alps.
Five lucky participants won door prizes: ski tune-up certificates,
ski wax, or ski socks, courtesy of Salter's Ski Shop of Eagleville, Pa.
The 16 attendees included MBA members Ted Coxe, Mike
Dunn, Tom Keenan, Joe Lynch, Sam Millinghausen, and Ken
Picardi.
Next year, sign up, take a day out of your office, breathe some
fresh mountain air, get a little exercise, and enjoy some good food,
wine and conversation with your fellow bar members. Hope to see
you then!
