PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Fellow Members,
As we approach the halfway mark of my year as President, I am excited to report
that our momentum has not diminished and our programming continues to be
innovative.
Law Day
On April 30, 2017 the MBA held its Annual Law Day ceremony before the full
bench in Courtroom "A." Over a dozen new MBA members were present to take
the oath for practice in Montgomery County, as administered by President Judge
Del Ricci. Following a keynote address on the 14th Amendment by the Honorable
Joseph P. Walsh, I had the pleasure of presenting awards to Kenneth P. Milner, Esquire
(2017 Henry Stuckert Miller Public Service Award); Mr. Gregory Honeyman (2017
Courthouse Employee Award); Ms. Sharon Cullen (2017 Courthouse Employee
Award); and Mr. John E.F. Corson (2017 Citizen's Public Service Award).

I had the pleasure of speaking at Abington High School to approximately 40 newly
admitted American Citizens. The MBA's American Citizenship Committee, led by cochairs C.J. Lyford and David J. Walton, conducts two citizenship ceremonies each year,
one in the spring and one in the fall. The Honorable Gail A. Weilheimer presided over
the spring program held on May 1, 2017. I had never attended a citizenship ceremony
before, and it is an eye-opening experience, particularly in the times in which we
live, to see individuals who respected the rule of law and committed an extraordinary
amount of time, effort and money to become legal citizens of the United States.

The Federal Courts Committee conducted a joint swearing-in ceremony for
the United States District Court for the Eastern District and Western District of
Pennsylvania on May 2, 2017. MBA Past President, the Honorable Mark A. Kearney,
