In addition to the volunteer physicians who devote 4 hours of
their time, every two or three months, the Leahy Clinic is also supported by various other volunteering health professionals. The office
reception, appointments and intake are performed by the student
volunteers in the health profession majors. Student and community members trained as medical interpreters assist with limited
English proficient patients; student nurses with a faculty member
perform intake, testing and post discharge education; nurses from
the community volunteer when students are not available; and a
pharmacist is available to assist in finding a treatment option the
patient can afford. All are overseen by medical director Dr. Michael
Tedesco, DO, the clinic director, and family nurse practitioner Andrea
Mantione DNP, MHA, CRNP, along with nurse manager Kirsten
McIntyre, BSN, RN, and operations manager Maria Vital, MHA.
The staff and the University of Scranton are devoted to assuring
that the patient experience at the Leahy Clinic is quality driven and
provides excellent care to the most vulnerable in our community.
Funding to support clinic operations comes from The University
of Scranton, corporation and foundation funding along with charitable contribution of alumni and individuals in the community.
The Leahy Clinic is consistently looking to expand its volunteer provider base, and encourages and welcomes new
volunteer healthcare providers. Volunteer times are flexible
and we are able to adapt your availability to our schedule. If you
are interested in volunteering your time, would like to visit the

The Edward R. Leahy Jr. Center Clinic for the Uninsured is
located on 230 Kressler Ct, Scranton, PA. The Medical Clinic
operates on Thursdays from 2 pm to 7 pm, Physical Therapy
from 2 pm to 7 pm Tuesday and Thursday, Counseling 10 am
to 4 pm Wednesday, and low vision by appointment.
