The 2018 budget increases funding for such programs by $103 million, and also includes $500 million set aside during the Obama administration for use in 2018. Yet, at the same time, the budget cuts funding for Medicaid, which according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, covered three in 10 people with opioid addiction in 2015. Critics argue that the health care budget cuts will undermine the additional funding earmarked for the opioid epidemic. Will funding for opioid addiction treatment and prevention remain consistent in 2019, despite this year's cuts to the health care budget? If the promise that comes from the public health emergency designation is to be taken seriously, it must. * Get a free, no-obligation revenue cycle analysis and find out.
