"Once again we have an incredible mix of music for the Downtown
Alive concert series, including for the first time a Latin flair that's sure to
spice things up," said Charles R. Broad, Executive Director of the Reading
Downtown Improvement District. "I'd like to thank Centro Hispano and
all its efforts to line up the Latin performers. And, of course, we're fortunate
to continue our strong partnership with the Community Foundation and SMG in
presenting this fantastic free outdoor concert series."
Kevin K. Murphy, President of Berks County Community Foundation, added: "The
Downtown Alive concerts, the Reading Fire + Ice Fest and the arts programming we're
funding along Penn Street are part of a larger strategy to remind people of the potential
in downtown Reading. It's a strategy that has been successful in other cities that we've
studied. If you showcase how vibrant your community's urban core can be, people will
notice and their interest in investing downtown will grow. We're already seeing that strategy
start to pay off here."
