Initiated in 2010 by American Express, Small Business Saturday
is dedicated to supporting small businesses and celebrating
communities across the country.

Here are some statistics provided by the national initiative:
* About 93 percent of Americans believe it's important to support
the small businesses they value within their communities.
* Consumers spent more than $5.5 billion at locally owned
shops, stores and restaurants on last year's Small Business Saturday.
* More than half a million small businesses participated in the event in 2016.
* More than 3.2 million supporters follow the Facebook campaign
for Small Business Saturday.

Holiday horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered on three consecutive
Friday nights: Dec. 1, 8 and 15 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Holiday Home Decorating
Rides will begin every 15-20 minutes in front of St. James Church at 644 Penn Ave.
The cost is $10 per person, and free for those 3 or younger.
Friday, Dec. 15. Judging from 7-9 p.m.

Kiddie Christmas Party

A band starts playing in the
Fred Astaire Ballroom at 8 p.m.
Those wishing to schedule a carriage ride should come to the starting site on the
evening they wish to participate and sign up for their preferred time slot.
Payment is required at the time
St. James Church will open its
doors on each of the three nights,
offering restrooms and hot
chocolate for ride participants.
