Founded in 1964

Organizational Grant Awards for
the 2017 calendar year:

A

s many of our members are aware,
the Delaware County Medical Society
Public Health Fund, Inc. was founded
in 1964 following the medical society's
"Victory Over Polio" drive. With funds that were
donated by the public and collected by the society
a successful campaign against polio was completed
and the extra money invested and managed
wisely by the new Fund's Board of Directors.
Fifty-two years later, the fund has contributed
over	five-hundred	thousand	dollars	to	local	
health related charities serving the residents
of Delaware County. The Fund's Board of
Directors meets annually in November to review
the yearly earnings on investments and to make
recommendations on the distribution of awards.

David M. Smilk, Esq., Treasurer; and Robert F.
Plotkin, MD (a founding member of the DCMS Public
Health Fund). Other board members of the fund
include: Fredric N. Hellman, MD; David Kramer,
CPA; David A. McKeighan; Richard C. Nelson, DDS.
