Jill's Timeless Tidbits

Creative ways to foster comaraderie and teambuilding
with your office staff or family and friends.
As a manager I enjoy finding ways to boost morale, create a
positive focus, and strengthen my office team. Being a good
manager also starts with continual improvement of you. As
we leave 2017 and enter 2018 here is a challenge for you:
Do you have a New Year's Resolution? Do you hold strong
to your resolution or do you make it a few weeks and
then give up? Here are FOUR motivational resolutions
to try and I challenge you to do these all throughout
2018; if you do I strongly believe you will notice greater
fulfillment in your life and the lives you touch:
Random acts of kindness.
The benefits of charity and compassion are powerful and most
of the time immediate. Practice anonymous do-gooding or
even non-anonymous: the generous person feels noble, the
recipient fills with gratitude, and spectators feel like cheering
inside just from having witnessed a simple act of kindness.
And you can enjoy health benefits since 'kindness is good for
your heart' as it temporarily lowers your blood pressure!
Practice a "Can Do Attitude."
Nobody likes to hear that you can't do something - if you
are unable to fulfill the request then discover ways to offer
alternatives with value and say "Let me tell you what I can
do." People like to work in an environment that is positive
and energizing and where they can make a difference. This is
good with co-worker relations and valued customer service.
Learn something NEW at work.
This may be the epitome of our current lives as we are stuck in
the storm of change in the healthcare environment....but what
I mean by this is to do things like: learn the infrastructure of
your computer system and create a troubleshooting cheat sheet;
learn how to handle a situation differently; learn each person's
role with your EMR system so you can help provide efficient
solutions or better understand time needed to complete their
tasks or barriers they are encountering....Doing this may help
you find improvements you may not have thought of. You can
also become a new asset in many areas of your office workflow.

Practice "Engagement."
Be more engaged in what you do. Engage those around
you and encourage them to interact and share in the
experience you create for them. Be an active participant
in your life and motivate others to do the same.
All these things can make a happier, healthier you. You
will most likely become more creative, more productive,
better to work with and release more of your potential!

Random Acts of Kindness Day!
One of the days listed on www.holidayinsights.com is
"Random Acts of Kindness Day" which is February 17th.
Consider having your staff strive to go above and
beyond with random acts of kindness
to patients and fellow staff members.
Record and post the acts by either
having other staff observe and
report or consider asking your
staff to toot their own horn and
share their deeds including
outcome experience from it.
