Vantage Point: Self-driving cars? We have had self-driving boats for decades!
Club Profile: Lakeshore Yacht Club
Destination: Cowichan Bay to Genoa Bay – Almost the Gulf Islands: “So you’re going offshore to Genoa Bay,” said an old salt at coffee that morning. Genoa Bay was 15 minutes away from our homeport of Cowichan Bay and hardly counted as offshore, but it was our first destination that fall. The fog had socked us in all that morning, so John and I drank coffee and gossiped with the neighbours while waiting for the weather to lift. By Catherine Dook
Marine Electronics: Breakthrough - Bringing Light to the Darkness: Award-winning and affordable new radar for small and medium sized boats from Furuno, hand-held thermal night vision from FLIR and infrared night vision binoculars from ATN, both well under $1,000 in Canada, bring amazing new measures of safety and convenience to almost any boater. And, just in time for Christmas! By Andy Adams
Cruising Destination: The Colours of Curaçao: In the early 1800s Albert Kikkert was posted here as governor of the Dutch Antilles. Prone to migraines, he decided the harsh sunlight on the whitewashed fronts of buildings exacerbated his condition. He demanded that they be painted different colours. The rest is history. By Mark Stevens
Book Review: The Art and Science of Sails
Sail Review: Dufour 382
Confident Sailor, Reluctant Sailor: Part 3 – the final installment of this series of steps to get ready for cruising focusses on the onboard systems and preparing for a trouble-free longer cruise. By Rob MacLeod
Power Review: Vanquish 24 Runabout
Power Review: Cruisers Yachts 54 Cantius
Crossing the Line: Pardon My Chapeau
