L'ONG Bloom dénonce l'essor de
l'aquaculture qui consomme du
poisson fourrage sous forme de
farine et d'huile, au détriment des
populations littorales privées de
protéines marines. Selon elle, 90 %
des poissons transformés en farine
seraient comestibles, ce qui va à
l'encontre du code de conduite pour
une pêche responsable établi par
la FAO. L'ONG cible la pêche minotière d'espèces pélagiques comme
l'anchois, la sardine, le sprat, voire le
hareng ou le merlan bleu, ainsi que
le krill de l'Antarctique. L'exploitation
intensive d'espèces minotières bouleversant la chaîne trophique. Bloom
épingle au passage les certifications MSC de pêcheries minotières et
par ricochet l'écolabel d'aquaculture ASC. L'organisation écologiste
recommande à l'Union européenne
d'interdire l'utilisation de farines de
poisson en alimentation animale
ainsi que la certification « Pêche
durable » aux armements minotiers.

The Bloom NGO denounces a booming aquaculture which consumes
fish meal under the form of flour
and oil, to the detriment of populations living on the coasts which
are deprived of marine proteins.
According to this NGO, 90% of the
fish processed into flour could be
edible, which runs counter to the
conduct code of responsible fishing
established by FAO. The NGO targets
fishmeal fisheries for pelagic species
such as anchovy, sardine, sprat, and
even herring or blue whiting, as well
as Antarctic krill. Intensive exploitation
of fishmeal species disrupts the food
web. Bloom incidentally criticizes the
MSC certifications of fishmeal fisheries and indirectly the aquaculture
ecolabel ASC. The ecologist organization suggests a European ban on the
use of fishmeal in animal food and on
the "Sustainable fishing" certification
granted to fishmeal fisheries.

surgelés prêts à réchauffer au four.
Aucun enrobage, juste des sauces et
des accompagnements de légumes.
L'acteur veut encourager la consommation de protéines marines aux États-Unis, sans
pour autant nuire à l'environnement. L'avenir, pour
lui, est dans une aquaculture durable.

of aquaculture
Leonardo DiCaprio who is a
committed actor, has decided
to invest in Love The Wild, a farmed fish processing company -
contrary to what its name implies.
Bass, barramundi, catfish, trout
are offered in oven-ready frozen
meals. No coating, just sauces
and vegetables as a side dish.
The actor wants to support the
consumption of marine protein in the United States
while preserving the environment. For him, the
future lies in durable aquaculture.

Fishing Watch a diffusé le résultat
de sa première analyse mondiale
du transbordement de poisson en
mer. Pratique qui permet de blanchir facilement du black fish en le
mélangeant à des captures légales

Grâce aux satellites, Global Fishing
Watch a tracé environ 800 reefers,
soit 90 % des principaux cargos frigorifiques mondiaux. La localisation des navires de pêche s'effectue depuis quelques années par les

satellites qui reçoivent les signaux
AIS (système d'identification automatique) utilisés pour éviter les collisions.
Analysées ensuite par algorithmes,
ces données ont mis en évidence
les zones à risque. Les eaux russes
sont particulièrement concernées
par les transbordements, la moi-

Fishing Watch. La Russie compte
également le plus grand nombre
de transbordements par navire.
Les autres « spots » importants
se situent hors des zones économiques exclusives de l'Argentine
et du Pérou, ainsi que dans les eaux
nationales de la Guinée-Bissau.
