It is a substantial French delegation, led by Frédéric
Moncany de Saint-Aignan, president of the maritime
cluster, which came to Bergen to assist to three days
of high-flying conferences to anticipate the trends
of the industries, to analyse the changes in global
consumption...

Brexit

What is its impact on
the international trade?

« 92 % des pêcheurs avaient l'intention de voter en
faveur du Brexit pour pouvoir augmenter leur production. Les attentes sont fortes en la matière, mais il
est difficile de faire des prédictions sur les négociations
où l'accès aux eaux britanniques pourrait être troqué
contre un accès aux marchés européens. Et les changements pourraient être d'importance : d'un côté 58 %
des captures réalisées dans les eaux britanniques le sont
par d'autres pays de l'Union. De l'autre, 71 % des captures du Royaume-Uni partent vers les marchés
européens. Mais une partie non négligeable
des quotas britanniques appartiennent
d'ores et déjà à des armements étrangers (Hollandais, Espagnols, Islandais),
engagés à débarquer au moins 50 %
des captures au Royaume-Uni, à recruter au moins 50 % de Britanniques, etc. »,
rappelle Emiko Terazono du Financial
Times au NASF 2017. Parmi les
scenarii possible : la vente de
quotas par le Royaume-Uni.
La France sera-t-elle au rendez-vous ?

"92% of fishermen wished to vote in favour of
Brexit to be able to augment their production.
Expectations are strong in that regard, but it is difficult to foresee the outcome of negotiations during
which the access to British waters could be traded
against access to European markets. Changes
could be substantial: on the one hand, 58% of
the catch from British waters is realized by other
countries within the European Union. On the other
hand, 71% of the catch in the United Kingdom
is sent to the European market. But a significant part of the British quotas already
belongs to foreign boat owners (Dutch,
Spanish, Icelandic), which are committed
to unload at least 50% of the catch in the
United Kingdom, hire at least 50% British
employees, etc.," recalls Emiko Terazono
from the Financial Times during
the NASF 2017. Among the

Un monde à part

A world apart

« Avec 1,373 milliard d'habitants, la Chine accueille une
population supérieure à celle des USA, du Canada, de
l'Union européenne, de la Russie, du Japon, de l'Australie et du Brésil réunis ! », chiffre Gorjan Nikolik, directeur
associé de Rabobank, à l'occasion du NASF.
Or, cette population est friande de produits de la mer,
qu'elle consomme toujours plus à mesure que ses
revenus augmentent.

"With 1.373 billion inhabitants, the population of China
is greater than that of the United States, Canada, the
European Union, Russia, Japan, Australia and Brazil put
together!," reckons Gorjan Nikolik, associate director
of Rabobank, on the occasion of NASF.
Yet, China's population is fond of seafood products
and their consumption is increasing in line with the
increase in income.

La Norvège innove
contre le pou de mer
À l'occasion du Day 0 ou journée
de l'innovation, prélude aux débats
du NASF, l'ingéniosité et les pistes
de recherche des entreprises
norvégiennes pour lutter contre
les poux de mer ont été révélées.
Désormais, avec l'aide d'IBM, les
données collectées auprès des
salmoniculteurs norvégiens et réunies
au sein de l'Aqua Cloud pourraient
être exploitées afin d'identifier les
facteurs de risque de prolifération
des poux (température de l'eau,
densité, etc.) et ainsi les prévenir.
Pour collecter plus de données,
et mieux garantir le bien-être du
saumon, SeaSmart dévoilait son
drone-plongeur. Les technologies
pour produire plus mais durablement,
soit en offshore ou en circuit fermé
ou semi-fermé, ont été présentées.
Elles font, comme la question de
l'alimentation et des vaccins, partie
des réflexions pour développer
l'aquaculture, demain, afin de nourrir
9 milliards d'êtres humains.

Norway's innovation
against salmon lice
On the occasion of the Day 0 or
Innovation Day which introduces
the debates of the NASF Forum, the
ingenious avenues of research of
the Norwegian companies in their
fight against the sea louse were
disclosed. Now, with the help of IBM,
data collected from Norwegian
salmon farmers and gathered within
the Aqua Cloud could be processed
in order to identify the risk factors
leading to an outbreak of sea lice
(water temperature, density, etc.) and
so prevent them. Seasmart unveiled
its underwater drone designed to
gather more data and guarantee
the well-being of salmon. Technology
used to increase production in a
sustainable way, either off-shore or in
a closed or semi-closed circuit, was
displayed. As with the issue of food
and vaccination, technology is part
of the debates on the development of
aquaculture, which will have to feed
9 billion human beings in the future.
