Section XI - Distribution Channels IMPORT DISTRIBUTION Comprised of Import Warehouses and Import Jobbers, the Import channel distributes Foreign nameplate car and light truck products (imports and transplants). substantial sales gain, climbing from $4.2 billion during 2005 to $7.1 billion in 2015 products at user-price and generating 15.5% of total car and light truck aftermarket product growth in the U.S. at user-price. Despite its name, the Import channel handles only a moderate portion of total aftermarket products installed on Foreign nameplate light vehicles in the U.S. ANNUAL PRODUCT GROWTH RATE Achieving a $2.9 billion gain in car and light truck aftermarket product sales between 2005 and 2015, the Import channel averaged 5.4% annual product growth. EXPANDING SHARE AND SALES The Import channel distributed 4.8% of 2005 light vehicle aftermarket products, increasing to 4.9% of the 2006 market. The Import channel plateaued at 4.9% light vehicle aftermarket product share through 2007 before climbing to 6.0% of 2011 sales and 6.8% of 2015 aftermarket distribution. Substantial changes are taking place within the Import channel, as smaller three-step Import Warehouses and Jobbers are being replaced by direct-selling Import Warehouses, many of which are regional and national in scope. This is energizing Import channel product volume and expanding its distribution product share of the light vehicle aftermarket.
