low-cost public work stations and sell

of the city limits. The Tahoe-Pyramid
Bikeway has been working for years to
develop a 116 mile, continuous bike trail
along the Truckee River from its source
at Lake Tahoe to its terminus at Pyramid Lake on the Pyramid Lake Paiute
Tribe Reservation. This list isn't exhaustive and doesn't even get into the great
work being done by groups like Muscle
Powered, twenty minutes to the south in
Carson City. On top of all this, the cities
of Reno and Sparks in conjunction with

Washoe County, the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) and local
tribes have signed an interlocal agreement to have LimeBike provide a pilot
dockless bike share program starting
this spring.
With all this great work happening,
two main questions arise:
1. Have you booked your flights to
Reno and signed up for Interbike?
That's right, the largest annual industry bike show in North America
is moving to Reno in 2018 after
more than a decade in Las Vegas.
It's sure to be an excellent event.
2. What does the Truckee Meadows
Bicycle Alliance (TMBA) even do?
TMBA, aka Bike Washoe, started
more than a decade ago as a "Bike to
Work Day" committee which aimed
to reduce traffic, improve air quality, and benefit individual health
by encouraging people to choose a
bicycle as a mode of transportation.
Since then, the organization has expanded from one day of events to
seven days worth of bicycle friendly
events in May, as well as community building events throughout the
rest of the year.
TMBA generally falls in the "more
butts on bikes" category of cycling organizations. While it generally focuses on
growing the local population of people
who use bicycles to commute, it also
seeks to provide support for all of our
local cycling organizations. Whether
people ride the cushiest of cruisers, the
gnarliest of mountain bikes, the most
hipster of single speeds, the most indestructible of cross bikes, the lightest
of road bikes, or the clunkiest of beater
bikes, we want to help provide the safest and most inclusive cycling community for them. Every single rider of any
type that logs miles in and around Reno
helps make every other rider safer by
showing that bikes belong and by creating one more personal connection for
every person who only ever commutes
by car. Building a motorist community
that sees bike riders as someone who
they could know rather than "just another damn entitled cyclist" is one key to
