students review Quality of Academic Instruction for Undergraduates All reviewers were enthusiastic about the education they received at Lehigh and the commitment of their professors to undergraduate education. Lehigh's three colleges-Arts & Science, Business & Economics, and Engineering & Applied Science-offer students a range of educational programs. "The classes at Lehigh are both engaging and challenging. Students are encouraged to take courses from all three colleges, which enables them to explore many areas of interest. Classes are generally small, and professors are very available. Note that the number of reviewers is small. Consider their personal perspectives as only one factor as you gather information and impressions from many sources. Our reviewers include 35 individuals, who major(ed) in accounting (2), anthropology (1), architecture (1), biochemistry (1), bioengineering (4), biology (2), chemical engineering (4), civil engineering (2), computer engineering (1), computer science and business (1), English (1), environmental studies (1), finance (2), global studies (1), industrial engineering (3), information systems (1), integrated business and engineering (3), international relations (1), journalism (1), math (1), mechanical engineering (2), music (1), political science (3), premedical science (1), psychology (4), sociology (1), supply chain management (1), urban studies (1), and writing (1). Their doors are always open, and they always made me feel as if they were really listening and wanted to help. My advisor helped me sort out if I wanted to go to law school, and then which law school to go to. Another professor spent innumerable office hours with me, helping me get through a class that was particularly challenging for me." "The quality of education at Lehigh was five star! The professors were friendly yet demanding. The class size was perfect; most of my classes had 20-35 students, and some had as few as 9 students. All my classes in the Business College were taught by professors with corporate experience. The business core curriculum has proven useful in a real-world environment, as have the teaching methods used (i.e., group projects, presentations, simulations)." "The sciences and engineering are excellent at Lehigh. Something that distinguishes Lehigh from many other engineering schools is the amount of practical research the faculty do; for example, the ATLSS Center does seismic and civil engineering research on many of the bridges in New York City. I found these real-world connections very useful when I was looking for a job." "Lehigh has several honors programs designed for today's students and job market. The most popular are IBE (Integrated Business and Engineering), CSB (Computer Science and Business), and IDEAS (Integrated Degree in Engineering and Arts and Sciences). The IDEAS program allows students to create their own major, with concentrations across Lehigh's colleges." "Grading at Lehigh is tough; it is fairly unusual to get all As. But Lehigh offers an incredible incentive to students to try: a fifth year tuition-free for anyone who graduates with a 3.75 GPA or higher. This President's Scholar Award can be used to complete another major or a master's program. It is something that many strive to get. Last year nearly 7% of the class took advantage of it." "I was in Lehigh's 7-year combined BA/ MD program (3 years at Lehigh, 4 in med school), which guarantees students admission to Drexel University College of Medicine as long as they maintain a high enough GPA. However, with Lehigh's tough grading policy, that's not easy to do. Prospective BA/ MD applicants should be aware that not all program participants make it to Drexel." "Fantastic. Despite Lehigh's reputation as an engineering school, many departments in the liberal arts college are also very strong. As an International Relations major I benefitted from some of the top minds in the field-people who are frequently featured on news programs speaking about issues of the day. To have that caliber of expert teaching you in a 10-15 person class is amazing." "Career services are incredible. Almost no one worries about finding an internship or post-grad job; there are so many companies that love to recruit Lehigh students. This is especially true of special programs like CSB and IBE." Social Life "Lehigh felt like a big family to me. The school has a proud tradition of a strong Greek system, and about 40% of students Mar/Apr 2016
