AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS

District 1

Mother Lodge Chapter 1, Atlanta, Ga.
The chapter's Educational Fund presented $78,400 to 57 students from
the greater Atlanta area at its 30th Scholarship Awards Reception and
Ceremony, June 5, 2016. Since 1986, more than $872,950 in scholarship
awards have been presented to students at the college and post-Baccalaureate levels to help them pursue their academic goals. The foundation
serves the cultural and educational programs of AHEPA Chapter No. 1,
DOP Chapter No. 53 and AHEPA Prometheus Chapter No. 519. Opening
remarks were made by Dr. Pandeli Durbetaki, chairman, Educational
Fund. Dr. Victor Polizos introduced the Keynote Speaker, the Honorable
John Spyros Dalis, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern
District of Georgia. Board Members Athena Economy, Keath Paxten, Becky
Stamatiades, Karen Stamatiades, and Mike Tsurutis presented the scholarships. Traditionally, additional scholarships are presented in memory of
deceased AHEPA family members. This year, scholarships were presented
in memory of: Betty R. Alexander, Eula C. Carlos, Demosthenes "Rocky"
Demopoulos, and Deppie M. Zakas.

Nick M. Stratas Chapter 310
Mobile, Ala.
The Brothers mobilized to buy and deliver emergency relief supplies, including bottled water,
bleach, paper towels, food, as well as shelter,
for the victims of the historic flooding in Baton
Rouge, La. Brother Dale Greenstein drove a
fully-loaded, 24-foot truck, which was courtesy
of Mobile Fixture. Special thanks to Brother
Bobby Foropoulos who did all the purchasing
at Walmart.

District 2
Citrus District 2, Florida
The District 2 Convention kicked-off with its annual golf tournament sponsored by the AHEPA family of Tampa, June 9, 2016.
It was held at the historic Babe Zaharias Golf Club, Tampa. First
place honors with a score of 15 under went to the team of: Chris
Psetas, Tony Saravanos, Bill Kazakis, and Nolle Peller. The team
of: Frank Touloumis, Alex Mihopoulos, Jason Richko, and Victor
Nguyen placed second with a score of 12 under. Psetas won
the Putting Contest and Closest to the Pin and Richko took the
Longest Drive.
