AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS

District 20
AHEPA Chapter 219, Phoenix, Ariz.
The chapter is proud to announce the following charitable giving initiatives: $2,000 to feed the homeless through a local
charity, United Methodist Outreach Ministry; $1,500 for the All Saints Camp in the San Francisco Metropolis, and $2,500 for
Saint Innocent Orphanage in Mexico.

AHEPA Chapter 528, Palm Desert, Calif.
Brother Thomas Evangelous celebrated
his 100th birthday surrounded by his
brothers, November 9, 2016. Brother
Evangelous joined AHEPA Chapter 362,
Clinton, Mass., in January 1958. He is a
shining example of the Greek Dinamis
(Strength). As we all have been unofficially adopted by him as sons, he has
lost his own son, Robert Evans, 78,
just days before his birthday. Brother
Evangelous still lives alone, cooks his
own meals, drives himself around, and
gets himself to our meetings, events,
festival and to church every Sunday.
We were grateful to have District 20
Governor Alex Soles and District 20 Warden Nondas Dratsiotis in attendance to award him and his family with a recognition
of this achievement.

Ottawa, Ont.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson met
with AHEPA to officially proclaim
October 28, 2016 as "Oxi Day" for
the residents of Ottawa. Mayor
Watson presented the proclamation to the joy of the Ahepans,
who were pleased the mayor
marked this important anniversary in Hellenic history that signified the struggle for liberty, justice
and freedom.
