St. Nicholas Campaign
Culminates at
Supreme Convention
Nearly $115,000 in donations to the campaign to help rebuild
Saint Nicholas National Shrine at World Trade Center were
announced by AHEPA family entities at the 93rd Grand
Banquet held July 4 in San Francisco. From $37,000 from our
Junior Orders, the Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena, to
$30,000 from the Daughters of Penelope, to nearly $48,000
from AHEPA chapters all across the AHEPA domain, the
AHEPA family pulled together for an impressive demonstration
of grassroots fundraising for such a worthy initiative.
Grassroots Efforts Continue
Houston-area Ahepans held a fundraiser for St. Nicholas
National Shrine. The affair, a Whisky and Cigar Night, raised
more than $10,000 and includes proceeds from a silent auction. Chapter President Doug Harris, instrumental in planning
and organizing the affair, hosted the affair at his home. Past
Supreme President Anthony Kouzounis provided him with
assistance. Several clergymen were in attendance, including: Rev. Sitaras, Assumption Greek Orthodox Church; Rev.
Palumbis, St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church; and Rev. Shadid,
St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
Rose of New England Chapter 110, Norwich, Conn. has
undertaken an "all hands on deck" project to fundraise for St.
Nicholas National Shrine. It involves a raffle for a 2015 truck
which will be completed soon.
