AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
District 14
Grainfield District 14
The district presented its Pericles Award to Businessman/Philanthropist Gus
Chafoulias, Rochester, Minn., at the District 14 Convention. Supreme President
Phillip T. Frangos and Convention Chairman Nick Kolas presented the honor.
Chafoulias is the Founder and Chairman of Titan Development and Investments.
He is credited for significantly changing the Rochester, Minn. landscape with hundreds of millions of dollars of development and another $138 million project about
to start in downtown Rochester. Recently, Chafoulias was awarded the Rochester
Business Person of the Year. In addition, he gifted $2.6 million to Saints Anargyroi
Greek Orthodox Church for new fellowship hall and education center.
AHEPA Chapter 53, St. Louis, Mo.
The chapter awarded seven scholarships, June 14, at the AHEPA
53 Apartments. The St. Louis AHEPA chapters have awarded more
than 200 Scholarships since 1950, and we are proud to continue
that tradition this year. In addition, Odessa Magafas, one of last
year's recipients, received an additional scholarship from District
14. Sophia Pierroutsakos was the guest speaker for the event. Brother
Basil Pappas presented the scholarships and Chapter President Scott
Thompson served as emcee.
AHEPA Chapter 192, Des Moines, Iowa
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad presented a volunteer recognition
award to AHEPA Chapter 192, Des Moines, Iowa, for the chapter's
"outstanding volunteer service" work to clean-up a two-mile stretch
of Highway 163 during the past several years. Pictured (l-r): George

AHEPA Chapter 534, Ralson, Neb.
The chapter presented a $70,000 donation to the Building Fund of All
Holy Spirit Greek Orthodox Church, Omaha, on the occasion of AHEPA
Sunday, May 17, 2015. The donation comes two years after a $30,000
donation to the church's building fund. Since its inception in 2009, the
chapter has contributed nearly $10,000 in scholarships and $4,000 to
local charities in Omaha. In addition, that chapter supports national educational programs, sending three students to "AHEPAcademy" and two
students on the "Journey to Greece." The chapter now has 41 members.
