AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
District 20
AHEPA Chapter 219, Phoenix, Ariz.
The chapter hosted its annual Christmas Scholarship
Gala where $10,000 in scholarships were awarded.
The gala, held at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Phoenix, also
raised $4,000 for St. Innocent's Orthodox Orphanage in
Mexico. More than 250 people attended.
Neptune Chapter 233 and DOP Theseus Chapter 88, San Pedro, Calif.
The chapters hosted District 20's mid-winter conference, Jan. 23, 2016. Through chapter contributions and sale of shine pins, more
than $5,000 was collected for the campaign to rebuild St. Nicholas National Shrine at World Trade Center. Forty-seven Ahepans
representing 13 chapters and 44 daughters representing nine chapters attended along with DOP Grand Vice President Jan Spanos,
Supreme Treasurer Carl Hollister, Supreme Governor Nick Perdaris, and DOP Grand Governor Katherine Karafotias. District 20
Governor Wynn Storton and the district lodge held informative training sessions covering aspects of membership to chapter officer
enhancements discussions.
AHEPA Chapter 426, Redondo Beach, Calif.
The chapter hosted a screening of the stand-up comedy documentary, "A Night
in Athens," featuring Greek Canadian Comedian and Ahepan Angelo Tsarouchas.
Brother Tsarouchas discussed his reasons for making the documentary, and of
course, in doing so, provided lots of laughs. More than 80 persons attended, including
Supreme Governor Nick Perderas, making it one of the biggest "Movie Nights" in the
series hosted by the chapter.
