VETERANS
In Communities, AHEPA Honors Veterans
As a prelude to Veterans Day, chapters throughout the AHEPA
domain presented their members who are veterans with the
AHEPA Medal for Military Service and certificate.
Supreme President John W. Galanis participated in one
such ceremony hosted by Alexander the Great Chapter 29,
Houston, Texas, Nov. 8, 2015. There, he presented 25 Ahepans
with the AHEPA Medal for
Military Service. The Supreme
President was visibly fighting
back tears while awarding some
of the Veterans their medal as
they were from all combat eras,
World War II, Korea, Vietnam,
Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Simply stated, we cannot
do enough to thank our veterans
for their service to our country,"
Supreme President Galanis said.

donated to worthy organizations that support veterans and

The act of honoring AHEPA family members with the

AHEPA Medal for Military Service was acknowledged by the
U.S. Senate as part of a concurrent resolution passed March
20, 2000, with the lead of then U.S. Sen. Paul Sarbanes (D-MD),
on the occasion of the 2000 AHEPA Biennial Banquet. The
banquet's theme was "Salute to Veterans."
