Chicago Residential Towers - (Page 4) SPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION 600 Fairbanks Court LOOKING AT THE LAKE FROM ON HIGH Located in Streeterville, the 41-story 600 Fairbanks Court glass residential tower features 227 condominium units with open, loft-like floor plans, hardwood floors and European-influenced kitchens. Ceiling heights range from 10 to 13 ft and are complimented by luxury floor-to-ceiling windows with spectacular views of Lake Michigan and the skyline. The owner of the tower, Schatz Development LLC, selected Bovis Lend Lease Q. What was your company’s role in 600 Fairbanks? A. Permasteelisa North America was very excited about the opportunity to partner with the world renowned architectural firm of Murphy/Jahn and Bovis Lend Lease. This 205,000-sq-ft, 41-story tower posed many tests of our abilities, and we created a dedicated team to meet and master these challenges. Our Minnesota and Sydney, Australia, engineering departments collaborated on the shop drawings process, while our Miami facility worked to a tight schedule to complete with units within the project timeline. In May 2007, our new Chicago facility started assembly and glazing units that had been fabricated and preassembled in Miami. As the erection of the curtainwall neared completion, we saw the concrete structure topped out and steel erection on the 41st floor progress. Our Minnesota engineering group completed its work by in August 2007 with both the Miami and Chicago facilities finishing the completed units for this project. Miami fabricated all materials, shipping them to Chicago for assembly. Today, the 41-story 600 Fairbanks Court project is almost completed. All curtainwall units are set with caulking, copings and closure panels, while the site team is continuing with the punch list work with very minor comments. When we originally submitted our proposal for this project, we knew we would be facing some extraordinary challenges. We were willing to tackle them because we had a great working relationship with Bovis and knew that their great communication style would ensure that solutions would be facilitated in a timely manner to get the job done. The combination of Murphy/Jahn, Bovis Lend Lease and Permasteelisa North America proves that artistry and partnership equals teamwork.
