» AAPA HEADQUARTERS AAPA Focuses on Water Resources, Trade Routes, Website * Kathy Broadwater, Deputy Executive Director of the Maryland Port Administration and Chairman of AAPA's U.S. delegation, represented ports at a public roundtable meeting, presenting her remarks to the 16 Members of Congress participating in the House Transportation and Infrastructure meeting on Building Upon Success: Priorities for the Water Resources Development Act of 2016. The roundtable discussions examined stakeholder priorities for the next Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) legislation that authorizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to carry out navigation programs and activities throughout the Nation. * Attendees at AAPA's Shifting International Trade Routes in Tampa, January 21-22, heard Walter H. Kemmsies, Ph.D., Chief Economist, Moffatt & Nichol provide his unique perspective on how key economic metrics will impact the port industry and effect vessel sizes, carrier alliances and supply chain shifts. Some of his insight is included in Meredith Martino's article on page 30 entitled, "Do Ports Know What's Coming?" * Did you know that AAPA is in the middle of creating a new website? It is launching in the spring and will feature more streamlined and efficient navigation choices to make it easier for members, potential members and key industry influencers to find what they are looking for on AAPA's site. It also will give users a better experience registering to attend AAPA programs and updating their contact information with AAPA. * AAPA's 2016 Spring Conference is coming soon, April 4-6 at the Renaissance Washington, D.C. Downtown Hotel. This annual meeting is AAPA's premier Washington event and one that always brings the port industry's top leadership to the nation's capital. A special part of this year's program will be the Monday evening reception at the Canadian Embassy on Washington's Pennsylvania Avenue.
